Samuel M Holmes
Samuel M. Holmes was born to George Washington and Caroline Holmes around 1839 in Tennessee.1 Perhaps Samuel was named after his uncle, George's brother Samuel (born around 1802).

Since he was a merchant in Limestone County, and will be a merchant in his next location in the Utopia community in Uvalde County, it's possible he was a merchant in Bullhead, also.
In 1887 he is no longer on the Edwards County tax lists. In 1889 and 1890 he pays non-resident taxes there on 13 acres of land.
Sam moves his family to Utopia in Uvalde County sometime before 1880 and sets up a drugs and grocery store. He is shot and killed in his store by a burglar in December of 1890.
